CCA Appoints Director of Marketing Operations

June 25, 2005 (Ottawa, ON) – The Canadian Cycling Association is pleased to announce the appointment of Kim Sebrango as Director, Marketing Operations in the national office based in Ottawa.

Sebrango has an extensive background in sports marketing with her career spanning over nineteen years. Her career began in 1986 at the Ottawa Rough Riders Football Club where she headed the marketing and ticket sales areas. She then moved to the Canadian Soccer Association as Director of Marketing and Event Management (1992-2002). During this time with soccer, Sebrango worked extensively securing, servicing and developing sponsorship properties for soccer both at the grassroots and national level. She successfully managed partnerships with General Motors, Sunny Delight, Nutella, Snickers and JVC. She also organized over 125 international “A” level matches and was recognized by the international soccer governing body, FIFA, when appointed as a FIFA General Co-ordinator at Foxboro Stadium in Boston at the 1999 Women’s World Cup USA.

Most recently, Sebrango has worked with Skate Canada where she was responsible for seeking and servicing national sponsors along with overseeing the ticket sales component for Skate Canada national team events.

I have a great deal of respect for the commitment it takes to be a national athlete and my objective is to develop partnerships with corporations who share these principles of dedication, pride and commitment to developing our young people through sport,” says Sebrango.

“Kim brings an exceptionally strong record in sports marketing and brand management to the CCA,” commented Steve Lacelle, CCA Chief Operating Officer. “She has close to twenty years experience with blue chip clients, expertise in making media buys and commercial spot production, and experience in trademark law, all of which will be invaluable as we develop our brand management and licensing strategies in advance of the 2008 Olympics. I am thrilled to have her on our team and look forward to the contribution she will make during this exciting time.”

The responsibilities associated with the position include developing and executing annual marketing plans/strategies for the Association. The Director, Marketing Operations will also work with the CCA Chief Operating Officer and other business unit directors to help develop and strengthen the CCA brand and overall positioning.

The Canadian Cycling Association is the national governing body for cycling in Canada. The CCA currently supports junior and senior-level cycling in the four Olympic cycling disciplines of Road, Track, Mountain Bike and BMX, as well as events and programs for athletes with a disability in visually imparted (tandem) cycling, and amputee, cerebral palsy and hand cycling events.
