October 29, 2005 – On the night of Wednesday, October 26th, 16 Norco Monterey bikes were stolen from a garage in downtown Toronto. The bikes, donated to CBN by Norco, were part of the Green Fleet program. After wrapping-up the program for the season, the bikes had been placed in the garage just that afternoon. Because our own office space is so small, the CBN relies on external storage for many of its bikes over the winter. We assumed the garage was safe and secure, but the theft that occured only hours later illustrates that not only is bike theft is a serious issue in Toronto, but that it involves experienced and organized thieves who know what they want and how to get it.
Anyone with information about these bikes is urged to contact CBN at 416-504-2918 or Crime Stoppers at 416-222-TIPS
