CAS Rules in Favour of Valverde

September 26, 2007 (Stuttgart, German) – The Court of Arbitration in Sports (CAS) has ruled in favour of Alejandro Valverde (Caisse d’Epargne) to compete as part of the Spanish team at the 2007 Road World Championships in Stuttgart on September 30. The UCI had declared that Valverde was ineligible while a disciplinary action was launched against him for his possible involvement in the Puerto doping scandal.

The UCI has also stated that Australian Allan Davis and Czech Rene Andrle can participate at the 2007 Road World according to AFP. Like Valverde, both were linked to Operacion Puerto. However the UCI remains at odds with 2006 Road Worlds Champ, Paolo Bettini, who refuses to sign the Riders Commitment for a New Cycling buy will also be on the start line on Sunday.
