August 24, 2005 – The sun was shining, the track was watered, a perfect setting for a weekend of racing! With 89 riders on Saturday and 80 riders on Sunday, the brand-new rebuilt Action BMX saw plenty of tire tread. Racing started Thursday night for Action’s regular District race and continued Friday night with a Triple Pointer. Saturday morning started off bright and wide-eyed with racing at 12:00 on the dot! The joyous choir of volunteers and riders sang our National Anthem to open racing and got everyone on their feet to listen. Racing was smooth and had few interruptions and crashes, we ended early in the afternoon allowing riders to enjoy the rest their afternoon in the hot summer sun. Sunday started off the same with racing to run at 11:00 and we completed the race by 1:30pm!
The combined 14-15 Expert class was one of the more exciting races as Brian Martel returned from injury to win the clas both days. Nick Goertzen, who was also out due injury won the Junior Men’s class ahead of points leader Nick Nimmo. Kasey Knowles, one of the more traveled 6-year olds, won her class both days and is on a mission to win every title she can get her hands on this summer. This weekend’s awards saw the addition of gift cards from Caps Langley / Proworks Bike Warehouse in $10.00 and $5.00 denominations. Thank-you to Caps Langley / Proworks for their generous sponsorship of our 2005 BC Cup Series! and many thanks to the volunteers of Action BMX who helped run a run as smooth weekend of racing.
For Caps Langley / Proworks BC Cup #6 we head out to Abbotsford BMX on September 3rd and return to Ridge Meadows BMX on the 4th for the Finals!!
