Canadians Storm Tucson Bicycle Classic Men’s Race with Podium Sweeps and Zukowsky GC Victory + PHOTOS

March 19, 2018 (Tucson, AZ) – Canada’s Nickolas Zukowsky (Silber Pro Cycling Team) grabbed his first overall GC victory this season in Arizona at the Tucson Bicycle Classic that wrapped up on Sunday – without winning a stage.

Yet other Canucks stepped up as Silber flexed it’s muscles when Alec Cowan led a Canadian #silberbullet podium sweep at the Stage Old Tucson/McCain Loop 5.14km ITT with Zukowsky second and Adam Roberge third.

Toronto Hustle is a strong emerging team and veteran Anton Varabei claimed the Broadpath Healthcare Solutions Road Race, 98.16km, to put himself and his team on the scoreboard as four Canucks made the top 10.

The final Stage 3 Circuit Race, 80.46km, on Sunday saw H&R Block’s Marc-Antoine Nadon take the checkered flag win over Zukowsky in second with Varabei third as seven out of the top 10 wore maple leaf colours.

Zukowsky led no less than six Canadian riders as the final GC was like a national championships north of the border and a fab start to the long season ahead.
