February 08, 2017 (Marseille, France) – In our recent Canadians in Europe post we forgot to includ The Grand Prix Cycliste la Marseillaise that took place in Marseille, France on January 29. The 146km UCI 1.1 event had three Canucks in the mix, with Ryan Anderson (Direct Energie) finishing 13th at 34 seconds behind winner Arthur Vichot (FDJ). Anderson finished in the second group on the road behind nine break-away riders.

“Anderson’s team mate Lillian Calmejane was in the break in Marseille, which meant Anderson had to hold back a bit in that final. Calmejane was 3rd in Marseille and then won Etoile Besseges yesterday,” said Kevin Fields, Cycling Canada Road Program Manager.

“Anderson was 13th. Showing well again. Last year he was 5th. And I was super impressed with Mackinnon in Marseille,” praised Fields. “It’s a very tough final and Sean was in the group at 3-min. down, just behind Anderson’s group – who were 34 seconds behind the winner and front group of nine.”
