Canadian Team Selection Criteria for 2009 Junior World Track Championships

release by the CCA

May 14, 2009 – The 2009 Junior World Track Cycling Championships will be taking place in Moscow from Aug. 11-15, 2009 and the Canadian Cycling Association would like to assemble a strong team to represent our country. This is an exciting opportunity for younger riders to receive guidance, gain experience, and become motivated to train for, and compete at, a high level of competition. The selection criteria is attached and includes minimum performance standards that need to be met by June 15th, 2009. The selection criteria can also be found here.

Athletes who have met this criteria will be invited to a training camp from July 9th to 16th where the Worlds team will be decided. The competitors will then have 1 month to prepare for Moscow with the guidance of a selected National Team Coach.

We encourage you to promote this opportunity to junior athletes and to provide the occasion for them to meet the time standards. In order for an official time to be met, the event must have electronic timing and race commissaires present. For further inquiries, please contact Petrina at petrina.tulissi@canadian-cycling.com.
