Canadian Sprinters Qualify for Track Worlds 2006

January 23, 2006 – Yannick Morin and his teammates Cam MacKinnon and Travis Smith placed 10th in the Team Sprint at the UCI Track World Cup in Los Angeles this past weekend, earning them enough UCI points to qualify for the Track World Championships in Bordeaux, France, April 13-16.

Quebecois Morin, and Albertan teammates Smith and MacKinnon qualified in a time of 47.097 seconds, good for 10th place. The sprint final was won by the French team, second place went to the Polish team, and the Australian team was third.

The announcement of the Canadian team for the upcoming
Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, Australia in March will be made this Tuesday – an announcement that Morin, Smith and McKinnon will be waiting for with eagerness.
