Canadian Olympians To Tee It Up At Annual Golf Tournament

August 11, 2006 — On Wednesday, August 16 the Canadian Olympic Committee (COC) will hold its seventh annual Golf Tournament at The Club At Bond Head in Bond Head, Ontario.

Hosted by the COC’s Chief Executive Officer Chris Rudge, the tournament is one of the organization’s signature fundraising events. The competition will feature participation and appearances by some of Canada’s most decorated Olympians including Curt Harnett (cycling), Dominique Maltais (snowboard), Marnie McBean (rowing), Brian Orser (figure skating), Shawn O’Sullivan (boxing), Brian Stemmle (alpine skiing) and Vicky Sunohara (ice hockey).

Included in the day’s festivities are 18 holes of golf, Olympic-themed competitions and demonstrations, a silent auction and dinner at the The Club At Bond Head clubhouse.

Proceeds from the tournament will benefit the Canadian Olympic Foundation which provides direct support to athletes, coaches, National Sport Federations and the Own The Podium 2010 and Road To Excellence initiatives.

Directions (from Toronto): From the 401, take the highway 400 exit towards Barrie. Head north on highway 400 and take the highway
88 west exit toward Bond Head. Highway 88 becomes 7th Line.

When: Wednesday, August 16
Time: The Opening Ceremony featuring athlete introductions is scheduled for 10:45 a.m. The shotgun start is set for 11:00 a.m.
