Canada’s Sam Whittingham Breaks His Own World Record

September 26, 2008 – Canada’s Sam Whittingham, 36, from Quadra Island in B.C., dubbed the “Fastest Man on the Planet” just got even faster. Whittingham, who has dominated the sport of HPV racing for nearly a decade, set a new world record speed of 82.3 mph (132kph) on Thursday, Sept. 18 in Nevada on his Varna Diablo III recumbent bike. Whittingham has been trying to break his record for six years and finally did it.
