Canada’s Gilbert, Roth and Lacombe at Elk Grove for KSB

August 8, 2007 (Minneapolis, Min.) — This weekend’s Tour of Elk Grove sees as varied a lineup from the Kelly Benefit Strategies/Medifast pro cycling team as any this season. The sprinter-heavy roster includes a back-from-injury Reid Mumford racing in his hometown, as well as the most experienced and newest members of the squad.

The full roster, warming up for next week’s USPRO Criterium Championships, includes seasoned sprinter Dave McCook, also returning from (a broken hand) injury, and newcomer to the Kelly Benefit Strategies/Medifast team Keven Lacombe. Lacombe, a Canadian national team member, finished second behind Karl Menzies in the Tour of Toona two weeks ago in his first event for the team. Other athletes in the lineup for Elk Grove are: Ryan Roth, Jonny Sundt and Martin Gilbert, winner of the Pan Am Championships in May.

“We’re really starting to hit our mark as a team,” says performance director, Jonas Carney. “It’s great to have Reid back after his injury earlier this season and to see him race on his home ground. Lacombe put in a tremendous performance in Altoona and the rest of our guys are putting it all out on the road now. We’re excited to see how the lineup works in Elk Grove and then move on to the USPRO Criterium Championships in Downer’s Grove next week.”

The Kelly Benefit Strategies/Medifast pro team is managed out of Minneapolis by Circuit Global Sport Management.
