August 23, 2006 (Snowshoe Mountain, West Virginia) – Race Face team rider and freeride legend, Darren Bearclaw, has stomped yet another competition and successfully defended his title at this year’s Bike Magazines “Monster Park.” This is the 3rd year in a row that Darren has won the “Monster Park” as he continues to prove that he is the man to beat on the global Slope Style competition circuit.
Bearclaw put together a flawless second run to take the victory by the slimmest of margins. He pulled off an Indian Air on the first table top, then he did a massive 360 step down off the ladder drop, he dialled in a tail whip near the bottom of the course and then he completely aired over the final stunt the “Green Monster” wall ride.
“How awesome is this,” said Bearclaw after his 3-Peat victory. “Winning Monster Park 3 years in row means a lot to me.”
Paul Basagoitia’s outstanding efforts gave him the third highest score of the competition, as he styled it with a variety of tricks including an x — up no footer, a massive backflip and a stylish tail whip. Another up and coming team rider from Race Face, Wayne Goss, cracked the top ten and finished in 9th place.
The field at the “Monster Park” event was comprised of stars from the global freeride scene, including Cameron McCaul, Jamie Goldman, Ben Boyko and Mike Kinrade, meaning stiff competition for the athletes and eye-popping tricks for the spectators.
The next major competition for the Race Face team riders is the Darren Bearclaw Invitational on Sep 2, at Mount Washington in Beautiful BC.
