July 10, 2006 – T-Mobile’s Amy Moore gained a podium placing at the final stage of the Krasna Lipa race in Czech Republic. After a hilly 94.5km trek, the Canadian magenta rider came in second behind the Austrian Monika Schachl (Arbö Uniga-Mix) and moved up to tenth in the final standings.

Theresa Senff (Toyota-Mix) was crowned overall winner, after dominating the five-day contest from the first stage on. The Czech Lada Kozlikova (Dukla-Mix) and Hanka Kupfernagel (German national team) rounded out the podium.

Early break successful
Already 25 kilometres into the race, Monika Schachl and Amy Moore managed to break away from the peloton. “The two of them worked together well and built up a two-minute lead” said T-Mobile sporting director Andrzej Bek.

With 20km to the finish, however, the gap was whittled down to a minute. Several riders tried to bridge to the pair, but all were swallowed by the pack.

With 14km still ahead of them, the two escapees managed again to extend the gap to two minutes. On the final climb, Schachl launched an attack and crossed the finishing line twelve seconds ahead of Moore. Sarah Düster from the German national team took the sprint of the main field.
