July 22, 2006 (Whistler, B.C.) — Both junior women’s and men’s Canada Cup leaders won their respective races in the blistering heat yesterday. Emily Batty (ON, Team R.A.C.E.) took her usual early lead and held it to the end, fending off second place, Kaitlin Michener (ON, Team Ontario) and third place, Marie-Claude Surprenant (QC, Drop Machine/Commencal).

Francis Morin (QC, Devinci) won the junior men’s race, but not easily. He was shadowed during the four laps by Zachary Winn (ON, Impala Cycle) and Cody Canning (SK, ERTC/Redbike), who finished second and third in a sprint finish.

Both wins proved that Batty and Morin are on track to win their respective series.
