August 3, 2005 – In our Canada Cup MTB Downhill #3 report on July 31/05 we stated that, “According to UCI rules, the series leader is required to wear the leader’s jersey in competition or face disqualification and a $200 fine.” In fact the fine is $2,500. We also reported that Canada Cup leader Danika Schroeter (BC, Giant) was disqualified (after posting the fastest time by 12 seconds) because she forgot to wear her leader’s jersey and that Fionn Griffiths (GBR, Norco) had protested to officials. We have since been informed by Griffiths that she only inquired about the matter with officials but did not make an official protest. Our apologies to all parties concerned. We are continuing to investigate Schroeter’s disqualification and will provide an update shortly.
