January 8, 2006 – The racing wrapped up in Burnaby with hard-fought Keirins, Snowballs, Tempos, Elimination-to-Scratch, and Feature Scratch races. In the A Group, Matt Chater was the dominant force, taking first place in all events today. In the B’s , 16 year old Cody Campbell demonstrated why he’s going to be one to watch on the track in the endurance events, winning the Elim-to-Scratch and lapping the B Group field twice in the Feature Scratch. And in the C Group, it was the Stuart Lynne/Mike Rothengatter show, as the old man battled the youngster in all events.

Gord Ross, Race Director, would also like to thank volunteers Jeremy Storie (co-director/race announcer), Steve Fenning (whip/timer/lap-board flipper/ sponsor/ and all-around-great-guy), Ben Jackson, Kenny James, Rob McMurtry, Doug Preston, Mike Mccorkell (emergency backup Keirin pace-bike), Peter Ross, Andy George & Fred Rothengatter (first aid), and all other participants for helping out when help was required. Burnaby also wishes Mandy Poitras, Gina Grain, and Matt Barlee good luck in Los Angeles for the upcoming World Cup and hope our event was a good tune-up for their legs and lungs.
