Burley Design Unveils Cyclo-Cross Bike at Sea Otter

April 6, 2006 – Burley Design will unveil an as yet to be named cyclo-cross bike at this year’s Sea Otter. Featuring OX Platinum air-hardened steel tubing, a machined headtube, carbon fork, and S-bend seatstays, this hand-built ‘cross bike is elegant, strong and lightweight.

The frame has an open main triangle for easier shouldering, plenty of mud clearance, steel drops for durability, and for non-cross uses: a full accoutrement of rack and fender mounts.

Burley has been hand-building steel frame single bikes in Eugene, Oregon since 2003 (tandems since 1993). Each frame is precision mitered, single-pass welded, hand-aligned to precise tolerances and receives a powder coat finish. 16 colors are available.

Two models of the ‘cross bike will be offered for the 2006 race season. One will come with an Alpha Q CX carbon fork, Ultegra 10 speed and an MSRP of $2,299 US. The other will have a carbon fiber cross fork, Shimano 105 components and an MSRP of $1,499 US.
