May 23, 2017 (Mont-Tremblant, QC) – The Grand Prix Le Nordet, part of the Quebec Cycling Federation’s road series, was held this past Saturday, May 20, on the rolling hills near Mont-Tremblant. The challenging course, which included a single 30km road section, started and finished just outside the small town of Saint-Donat-de-Montcalm.

The senior women’s field was smaller than usual as many riders were racing at the UCI Grand Prix Gatineau. Raphaele Lemieux (IBike) took the win with Emilie Brisson (Velo-Station) finishing second and Anais Courteille (Independent) taking third.

In contrast, the Senior 1-2 men’s race featured all three of Canada’s continental professional teams: Garneau Quebecor, Silber Pro Cycling and H&R Block Pro Cycling, fielded squads. Within the first few kilometers, the major move of the day that would eventually produce the race winner, separated itself from the dwindling pack. The strong composition of teams at the head of the race, meant the escapees would go all the way to the line.

In the closing kilometers, four riders emerged off the front including reigning Canadian road champion Bruno Langlois, and Olivier Brisebois from Garneau Quebecor, Brett Wachtendorf (Lowestrates Cycling Team) and Nickolas Zukowsky (Silber Pro Cycling). With the help of Langlois, a fast-finishing Brisebois took the win over Zukowsky in second and Wachtendorf in third.
