Bono of U2 Injured in NYC Bike Accident – Cancels Tonight Show Appearance

by John Symon

bono-voxNovember 17, 2014 (New York, NY) – Irish rock star Paul David Hewson – better known by his stage name of “Bono” – was injured in a bike accident Sunday in New York City, forcing the postponement of a Tonight Show appearance. Bono is part of the four-man band, U2. A memo posted November 16 by Edge, Adam & Larry on U2’s website states that:

“It looks like we will have to do our Tonight Show residency another time – we’re one man down. Bono has injured his arm in a cycling spill in Central Park and requires some surgery to repair it. We’re sure he’ll make a full recovery soon, so we’ll be back! Much thanks to Jimmy Fallon and everyone at the show for their understanding.”

The exact nature of Bono’s injuries is not known, but the above message suggests that it could be a broken arm and likely not too serious.

Bono, 54, does vocals for the band and also plays guitar, harmonica, and keyboards according to Wikipedia which also states that Bono writes, “Almost all U2 lyrics, frequently using religious, social, and political themes.”
