I will embark on my first stage race this year with only a week's notice. I'm excited and also antsy about spending long days in the saddle along a few hundred folks all with the same goal in mind. Whistler! Following this past cyclocross season as well as a number of XC races on the Vancouver Island I feel my legs are in the right place for the BC Bike Race. I only hope that my head is there as well as there could be long days out there without a team mate. Let's see what I am made of.

My ride is a steel Haro Mary 29er with a Pro Carbon fork up front. My friends call it a hybrid, but that's because they are jealous that they don't have one. I've been riding fully rigid for a couple years now and I really love how challenging it makes even simpler trails. So I am excited to see what BCBR throws at me.

A big thanks to our sponsors PowerBar, Maxxis, Finishline, Trek Pro City in Victoria (also my employer) and of course my girlfriend Mical Dyck for helping to make this happen.

My goals are not lofty but I look forward to surprising some people at this race -- even myself! The plus is that I get to share my experiences from inside the race with everyone else who wasn't fortunate enough to be here and take part themselves in the 7-day adventure and mayhem that is the 2010 BCBR.
