February 20, 2008 – Here are the latest headlines from the BC Bike Race headquarters, including details on BCBR’s “The Last 2 Spots” Contest, BCBR 2008 Awards Gala, and new scouting reports.

That’s right, intrepid riders, BC Bike Race 2008 is fast approaching sellout! But we have set aside the last 2 tickets to ride this much anticipated event and are giving them away as part of a prize package that could be worth upwards of CDN$20000! This is the ultimate singletrack experience pumped to the max!!!

The grand prize package includes – among other amazing sponsor giveaways – airfare, accommodations, tranfers, a team of two race entry, two 2008 Trek bikes, two Dakine bike bags, bike & body care during the race and much, much more.

The contest is open to anyone keen to participate in this year’s event – including already registered racers. To enter, you’ll have to send us a picture of you and your favourite riding buddy and tell us why the two of you deserve to win this incredible prize package.

Submissions will be accepted from February 19-May 18. After May 18, our judges will determine their top three picks of all entries received.

On May 21, the top three will be posted on our website for all the world to see…and vote on. Voting closes on June 11, and the most popular choice wins! The winning entry will be announced on our website on June 12.

The 2008 BC Bike Race Final Awards Banquet & Gala will be held at the spectacular Roundhouse Lodge on Whistler Mountain.

This is exciting news for BC Bike Race competitors and fans alike! What better place to celebrate the amazing accomplishment of 7 days of riding the ultimate singletrack experience than on top of the world with Whistler Village at your feet!?

After a breathtakingly scenic gondola ride to the Roundhouse Lodge, BC Bike Race guests will be treated to incredible food & drink…and can toast their triumphs 1250m (4000ft) above Whistler Village.

New Scouting Reports Rolling In
Now that the snow is starting to melt, our course directors are hauling out their maps and scoping the trail networks for this year’s event. They’ll be reporting their findings and progress back to us here at home base and we’ll be sharing those updates with you.

First to report make it in: An Early Season Peek at Stage 7 – Whistler here! And hot on its heels this week will be some insights from the Sunshine Coast – Stage 4!
