BC Bike Race is Sold Out

release by BC Bike Race

June 10, 2010 (Vancouver, B.C.) – BC Bike Race is happy to announce that the 2010 edition is ‘Sold Out’. Registration for 2011 will open July 4th one day after the completion of this year’s event. In only its fourth year BC Bike Race has once again reached 100% capacity, all 500 participants will start their ‘journey of a lifetime’ on June 27th in N. Vancouver BC.

BC Bike Race is a unique mountain bike stage race that boasts the ‘Ultimate Singletrack Experience’; by its very nature this means that capacity each year will be limited. “With singletrack and environmental issues to be considered we must be very careful of our footprint each year, said course designer Andreas Hestler. Each of the other events in this category has their own flavour and their own capacity, but we don’t foresee being able or interested in hosting more than 500 each year. It’s simply the most sustainable number for our area.”

BC Bike Race has always had an amazing field of athletes from top pros to everyday Joes; this year is no exception. But there is one unifying concept, the course, each and every one of the 2010 participants either Challenge or Epic will tackle an amazing course and revel in an awesome singletrack experience.

The registered racers list is now available here.

BC Bike Race is proud to announce that its women’s participation has climbed to 19% and believes that many of the past winners and participants have given great strength and voice to this category.

BC Bike Race is SOLD OUT

March 11, 2008 – The BC Bike Race “the Ultimate Singletrack Experience” has sold out. In only its second year of operation this seven day mountain bike stage race, from Victoria to Whistler has joined the ranks of its peers, and sold out. Last year’s winner Chris Eatough said “BC Bike Race was amazing, best bike race in the World, no doubt” As a 6-time Solo 24 hour World Champion he should know.

June 28-July 4, 2008 this year’s event is ready to blast off. Situated in one of the Mecca’s of mountain biking, the BC Bike Race takes advantage of all the geographic features that the Coast of British Columbia has to offer; spectacular views, ocean crossings on the BC ferries and of course we can’t forget the amazing trails built by mountain bikers for mountain bikers.

It would seem that the demand for challenging cycling events is high. With only two events of this kind (7-day mountain bike stage races) in North America and both are sold out. Other events the world over are experiencing similar numbers. For the last few years La Ruta de los Conquistadores has also sold out and that event is located in Costa Rica.

What is it about these events that drives people, motivates them to undertake such a challenge? “It’s the sense of completion at the end that really makes the difference, when you set yourself a major goal for the year, you enable your training to have a purpose and then through the event your achievement is really about yourself overcoming a challenge,” said Dean Payne founder and president of BC Bike Race.

There is a wait list forming, as with all athletic events and especially ones of these magnitudes, things arise and spots move around. If you are still interested, please join the wait list and stay posted for updates.
