Avid Steps Up To Support Red Bull Road Race

September 26, 2005 — Avid Brakes has stepped into the Red Bull Road Rage fire by doubling the prize purse to $10,000 and offering to outfit all riders with their disc brakes. In addition, 661 will provide protective gear to all riders. Given the difficulty of the ride, disc brakes and protective gear will come in very handy!

Red Bull has partnered with Sinclair Imports to support their VIP pre-party at this years Interbike tradeshow in Las Vegas. The invite list includes some of the industries top athletes and special guests. Bar chat is sure to include all kinds of Red Bull Road Rage “trash talk”, such as who will be fastest down the hill and will disk brakes dramatically increase speed? On November 5, 2005 25 of the nation’s best road cyclists will compete to be crowned the Big Kahuna or fastest descender on a road bike at the inaugural Red Bull Road Rage co-sponsored by Giant Bicycle. Riders will take on a 2.5 mile course with a 2,000 foot elevation drop and 120 degree turns at death-defying speeds through the historic Tuna Canyon also known as the Big Kahuna in Malibu, CA.

By the days end, years of speculation as to who’s the fastest will be put to an end.
