Austria’s Matthias Brändle is the New Hour Record Holder + VIDEO

October 30, 2014 (Switzerland) – Austria’s Matthias Brändle, 24, has broken veteran Jens Voigt’s hour record set in September, with a new benchmark of 51.85 kilometres. The new record was established at the World Cycling Centre in Aigle, Switzerland. UCI president Brian Cookson was on hand and now recently retired, Bradley Wiggins (Gbr) along with Alex Dowsett (Gbr) and Fabian Cancellara (Sui) have expressed interest in taking on the challenge. “I had a difficult period in the middle of the race,” Brändle told the Guardian.
