February 16, 2006 – It looks like the late snow will enable us to stage the first Winter Cyclo-cross Championships for riders from across the Maritimes. The event is being organized by National Cycling Centre Atlantic Canada and Mike’s Bike Shop.

This race will take place during the Dieppe Friendship Carnival on Saturday, February 18 — in case of (very) bad weather it could take place on Sunday, February 19 at the St-Anselme Park, Dieppe, NB.

Two categories will participate at these championships:
– 2:00 pm — youth categories (10 to 15 years old) — Mountain bikes accepted
– 2:45 pm — competitive categories (categories will be based on handicap according to experience level) — Mountain bikes accepted

Registration will take place on site one hour prior to the start (at the Vélodrome Caisse populaire Dieppe Vélodrome). $5 for competitive categories and free for youth categories

Many draw prizes will be awarded to the participants and the first Winter Cyclo-cross Cup will be awarded to the winners! Come and participate in this unique event and fight the winter biking blues! Hot chocolate included!
