August 8, 2007 – Recent 2007 Tour de France champion Alberto Contador (Discovery Channel Team) will read a prepared statement at the offices of Spain’s Superior Council for Sports along with Discovery Channel Team head Johan Bruyneel on Friday and will not take questions from the media according to AP.

This press conference comes on the heels of news that the organizer of the Pro-Tour’s Cyclassics event in Hamburg on August 19th announced that the race doesn’t want Contador because he has been mentioned in connection with the Operation Puerto doping investigation.

German doping expert Werner Franke has made recent claims that he has documents from the Operation Peurto investigation which include the initials A.C. next to details about a testosterone booster and an asthma drug. Contador has denied having any association with sports doctor Eufemiano Fuentes who was at the centre of the Operation Peurto investigation.
