Albert Coulier 3-Day Memorial Race Report and Results

September 26, 2011 (Tillsonburg, ON) – Our 3-day Memorial Race in honour of Tillsonburg resident Albert Coulier at London’s Forest City Velodrome was a great success. Day 3, the last day, started right where day 2 left off – fast and furious battles between teams in both divisions of the madison race. Read more on the event in the Delhi News Record HERE.

In the Elite Division the team of Dave Byer  and Steph Bester of London managed to control all attacks and hold on to their lead. Team Red of London’s Geoff Power and Will Simmonds attacked throughout the night as did Team Green of Doug Devine and Brian Trafford of Ottawa. The final result wasn’t decided until the very last sprint which was won by Byer and Bester.

Final Results at end of day 3:

Elite Division
1. Team Salmon (Dave Byer and Stephanie Bester) 0 points
2. Team Green (Brian Trafford and Doug Devine)  1 lap, 71 points
3. Team Red (Geoff Power and Will Simonds) 2 laps, 94 points
4. Team Village Cycle (Chris Vlemmix and Mike Renneboog) 2 laps, 79 points
5. Team Cycles London  (Lorne Falkenstein and Eric McDonald) 4 laps, 74 points

The team of John Hueston and Adam Matthews held on to win over a fast charging team of Candice Vermeulen and Logan McIntyre in the ‘B’ division. Vermeulen and McIntyre had started the last day’s racing in 5th place and moved up to finish 2nd.
