ABA BMX Grand Nationals

September 19, 2005 – The ABA (American Bicycle Association) Grand Nationals of BMX were held this past weekend, indoors, in Chilliwack, BC and Jon Land can now add an ABA #1 Pro title to his long list of achievements this year. The tall man who rides for Proworks earned the title through seven events and the Grands. Land may have one the title but Scott Erwood (Standard) made headlines by turning Pro on Saturday’s National and placing third behind Land and Scott Rodolf (Redline – USA) and then winning the Grands on Sunday. Aaron Lepp (BMX Solutions) helped the cause by showing Rodolf the backside of turn one in the first of three main events and Erwood made some key passes to be the most consistent of the group.

In other highlights Daniel Mazuti (USA) won the Grands in an exciting 16 Expert class escaping a pileup in the first corner – something that was common throughout the weekend. Nick Goertzen was the winner of the National on Saturday. Ashleigh Lewis of Vernon BC took the 17-27 Girls class in a full group on Sunday. For more results go to www.ababmx.com
