July 18, 2004 (Mt. Ste-Anne, Que.) — Mathieu Laurin (Iron Horse/Mad Catz) claimed the men`s National title today. After qualifying with the fastest time this morning in 3:22.64, he grabbed the win in the final, just a smidge slower with a time of 3:22.80.
Laurin was elated, waving to the applauding crowd when he reached the bottom. Friends congratulated him with a cooler of orange Gatorade over his head instead of a bottle of champagne. His smile never faded, despite being drenched in sticky sports drink.
