March 28, 2015 (San Dimas, CA) – Finally, 2015 has started for the Silber Pro Cycling team. Temperatures of over 30 degrees awaited the peloton for the 15th annual San Dimas Stage Race in the Los Angeles basin.

Stage 1 is the infamous time trial up Glendora Mountain Road. This 4.5-mile climb will be useful to gauge the early season fitness of the US-based pros and top amateurs. For the Silber Pro Cycling team it’s a chance to pin the numbers on before our training camp in La Mesa next week and the NRC kickoff Redlands Classic in two weeks time.

It was the first chance for the public to see our bright new orange coloured Giordana kits, as well as our Argon 18 Gallium bikes. Most riders would choose the Vision TC50 wheels today for the perfect blend of aerodynamics and light weight.

Ryan and Alex would lead our team with an 8th and 9th place finish respectively. Most of our riders are well placed in the top 40 and should be in good position when the inevitable attacks launch up the road in tomorrow’s very difficult and undulating circuit race. 2 laps of 7 miles await which include the newly added climb of Heckler Hill.

This climb last feature in 2004 where the peloton felt the road was too dangerous and lodged a protest. We’ll see what transpires this season, but one thing is certain. Our Silber Pro Cycling team is very motivated to start racing aggressively and make the most of their opportunities.

Silber Pro Cycling Unveils New Colours – Fluro Orange and Black

Canada’s Silber Pro Cycling will be sporting new fluro orange and black colors as a result of partnerships with clothing manufacturer Giordana, POC, Emerson Outerwear, and EC3D compression wear.

“Last year I asked all sorts of racers on the UCI America Tour which were their favourite clothes, and almost all said Giordana. We couldn’t be more excited about this partnership with a global leader in cycling apparel,” said Scott McFarlane, principle owner of the Canadian UCI continental team.

Silber Pro Cycling asked Giordana to produce a design that worked well with the fluro orange helmets provided by POC Sports. Bronko Glavich of Uno Imports coordinated the entire project. SPC then ran with the colour scheme Giordana provided, and created casual wear for the team, with Emerson’s support. Gilbert Ayoub and Carine Villneuve of EC3D stepped in to provide compression wear to ensure access to the latest in recovery apparel.

“We demand excellence from our riders,” explained McFarlane, “We therefore needed to ensure quality clothing throughout their working day: kit, helmets, glasses, casual and compression wear.”

Added McFarlane, “Our industry sponsors have been great to work with. Once Peter Appleton’s team at POC heard we were going fluro orange to match their helmets, they through in socks with fluro orange bands to complete the look. In the end, the feedback on both the design and quality of the clothes and helmets has been fantastic. And we have had so many requests for our hoodies, that we will be doing an extra run next week! I’ve also received numerous requests for POC helmets and we are just now unveiling the look to the public! In fact we are in the process of constructing a new website and re configuring our social media. I think these early sales reveal the potential of Silber Pro Cycling to support the needs of financial and industry sponsors, while building a sustainable, exciting professional cycling program for North America.”

Headlined by 2012 Canadian Elite Road Champion Ryan Roth and Canada Games Champion Matteo Dal-Cin, Silber Pro Cycling’s roster also contains some of the nation’s best U23 talent including Benjamin Perry, Nigel Ellsay and Alex Cataford. The team will be directed by cycling legend Gord Fraser as it competes on the UCI Americas Tour. It is currently racing at the San Dimas Stage Race in California.
