Lambert-Lemay Joins Garneau-Quebecor

by John Symon
December 19, 2012 (Montreal, QC) – Simon Lambert-Lemay, who rode with SpiderTech p/b C10 in 2012, has signed with Quebec City-based Garneau-Quebecor road team for 2013. The 22-year-old sprinter told us that he was very happy to have signed given the circumstances of SpiderTech’s surprise announcement in October of suspending operations for next year. Lambert-Lemay and his teammates had to scramble to find new teams.

“Yes, it’s official,” Lambert-Lemay told Pedal today. “I will be racing full-time this coming season before starting school in September to study osteopathy. I am counting on this season to have some good results. And I will no longer be riding as a U23 cyclist.”

Lambert-Lemay mentioned that he is hopeful that Garneau-Quebecor will obtain continental status for 2013, “Because that will help us to enter races in the U.S.A. Organizers there would probably prefer to have an amateur American team race, but if they’re on the UCI or NRC calendar, it will be easier for Garneau riders to get on the start line. Bruno Langlois showed me the 2013 calendar yesterday and it includes some nice races!”

Asked if other former SpiderTech riders could find their way to Garneau-Quebecor, Lambert-Lemay mentioned that his new team has not yet presented its 2013 squad. “I think that the new signings are not over yet,”
