CCA and US Cycling Announce New Cycling Passport

by pedalmag.com
April 01, 2012 (Ottawa, ON) – Pedal has learned that the Canadian Cycling Association (CCA) and US Cycling will soon unveil new cycling passports in an effort to streamline border crossings for riders and teams. The program is set to be approved by passport officials in both countries and could be available as early as April 15th.

“With the mix of US and Canadian riders on teams in each others countries and the number of events it only made sense to look at options like this,” said Jacques Landry, Chief Technical Officer for the CCA.

“We consulted with riders and Passport Canada and everyone agreed a CCA Cycling Passport is the way to go. US Cycling loves the idea as well and we expect to roll out the program in both countries later this month.”

Pedal was unable to reach officials from US Cycling. Apparently other sports such as soccer, tennis and football are reviewing the idea and are considering the idea.

More updates as they become available.

Happy April Fools
