Most exhibitors chose to display their 2012 bikes and components however a few companies had some prototypes and concept bikes on display in their booths. Most notably were Di2 and hydraulic disc brake-equipped road bikes available from both Stevens and Colnago.
The Stevens SLC Disc Prototype featured TRP’s Hywire Di2 compatible disc brakes. The SLC featured great tire clearance and internal routing on the cables.
The Colnago C59 Disc featured Formula’s take on Di2-compatible hydraulic disc brakes. Both bikes could prove a watershed in the march towards disc brakes for road bikes. While cable-actuated road disc brakes have been around for a while, lever feel has never been optimal. Both the Formula and TRP brakes felt great and we can’t wait to get a pair in our hands.
