February 19, 2012 (Montreal, QC) – The tenth annual edition of the Montreal Bike Show opened on Friday, February 17 in Montreal’s Place Bonaventure and many of the 226 exhibitors at the show commented that crowds were good on the first day.

“Almost all exhibitors from 2011 year are back this year,” show organizer Jan P. Dubé told Pedal. “And we have Garneau, Marinoni, Guru, and Beausoleil which are making a big return this year. We also have Ekoï, Pedal Magazine, and Porsche making their debut at the show in 2012.

“There are many new exhibitors in the cycle touring section as well like Adirondack (New York State) and Mount Washington Valley (New Hampshire) tourist associations joining the state of Virginia and the Rideau Heritage Route from Ontario.”

“Exhibitors are quite impressed with the quality of visitors coming to the show,” continued Dubé. “These people are real passionate about cycling! This edition of the Montreal Bike Show has the most bike brands on the show floor along with the most cycling events ever presented and the most tourist regions from US and Ontario. The new Porsche bikes and trials of new electronic power shift (EPS) group from Campagnolo  and new Ultegra Di2 from Shimano were a hit all day! And visitors can even try out these new innovations.”

As cycling continues to attract more women major players like Louis Garneau Sports was showing off a whole section dedicated to women – bikes, clothing & accessories – while niche sports clothing manufacturer Katy St. Laurent presented her production line only for women. Demonstrating that women can also master bike mechanics, Denise Belzil of Techno Cycle  is using the show to launch her second book: Adjustment of Speed and Braking Systems.

For racing fans Garneau is also selling jerseys and helmets designed for the Europcar Team that will compete at the 2012 Tour de France. Meanwhile, the Multiple Sclerosis Society is launching a charity ride this summer that for 16 days will follow the route of the original Tour de France in 1903.

Not only cyclists, but also triathletes will enjoy the 2012 Montreal Bike Show where many exhibitors such as Garneau, and Montreal retailers also cater to the triathlon crowd such as Boutique Courir with many quality brands on display including 2XU,Gore Bike Wear, Nalini, Nineteen, Orca, Pearl Izumi, Parentini, Sugoi, and Zoot.

“The show is a great chance to take a sneak preview at the 2012 season,” concluded Dubé. “On top of that, there are lots of great deals on floor with specials up to 70 % off regular retail prices!”
