24 Hours of Adrenalin to Partner with IMBA Canada

March 10, 2008 – Twenty4 Sports, organizers of the 24 Hours of Adrenalin, are partnering with IMBA Canada in 2008 to raise funds and recruit members for the World leader in mountain bike trail advocacy and education. This multi-faceted partnership will be focussed on the 10th Anniversary World Solo 24 Hours of Adrenalin Championships to be held in Canmore, Alberta on July 26-27. IMBA Canada will not only be a vital event partner leading and advising on trail maintenance and best practices on the pre-event Canmore Trail Days, but will also be staffing one of the race check points and running an information and membership tent in the Expo area throughout the weekend.

Though the 2008 Canmore 24 Hours of Adrenalin team event sold out in 2 ½ days a year in advance, Twenty4 Sports held back five spots which will be auctioned in the next weeks with all funds to be directed to IMBA Canada–specifically for projects and activities in Alberta. These coveted spots represent the only way that teams can join the 1,450 team riders and 200 solo competitors for this awesome weekend of racing. The normal price for team entries is $750, but given the huge demand, quick sell-out and great cause, the opening bid for these IMBA Canada Entries will be $1000. That means they’re guaranteed to raise at least $5,000 for trail advocacy, education and building.

“There’s a really great fit between Twenty4 Sports and IMBA and we’re really pleased to announce this partnership,” said Twenty4 Sports Director Stuart Dorland. “We’ve raised over $21,000 through our Canmore events for the Isabel Dube legacy fund, and we’re looking forward to using these events as a platform to support IMBA Canada this year and in the future.”

One of the unique elements of this year’s 24 Hours of Adrenalin Solo World Championships is the course setting weekend which will bring together elite and recreational racers, IMBA Canada representatives and local stakeholders to provide course design input for the organizers. “We really intend to make this the most rider-directed and friendly course ever.” said Dorland. “We’ll have three 2007 World Champions, Tinker Juarez, Rebecca Rusch and Matt Chaney, our single-speed winner, coming to provide rider input on the weekend. We’ll also be getting guidance from IMBA Canada that will be vital in making sure that our 2008 course sets a new benchmark for adhering to best trail practices.”

Commenting on the partnership, Mark Schmidt of IMBA Canada said: “24 Hours of Adrenalin Canmore is an ideal way for IMBA Canada to interact with a core group of bikers. We’re already brainstorming ways that we’re going to raise funds for Alberta trails and make our aid station one of the highlights of the weekend.”

Full details on twenty4 sports IMBA Canada Auction and the Canmore course setting weekend will be released soon.
