Indeed, the young Swiss star got the hole shot as expected, but it was another Swiss rider, Linda Indergand (Switzerland), who rode away with the race for the win and the world title, gaining a whopping 2:19 over second place finisher Lena Putz (Germany) and 2:44 over third place, Julia Innerhofer (Italy). Neff finished out of the medals in fourth place at 3:17 back.
National Champion Frederique Trudel (Canada) was the top Canadian, finishing 12th, with Andreane Lanthier-Nadeau in 16th, Haley Smith 22nd, and Lauren Rosser 27th.
