August 01, 2011 (London, ON) – What a great weekend of racing at the Forest City Velodrome. A total of 47 riders took to the boards at the Forest City Velodrome’s 138m high-banked oval in London, Ontario. On the line were Ontario Championship medals in five events covering age age categories of racing. Racers as young as 12-years-old were competing in the under 15 group that had eight registered riders.
“We had racers from across the Province participating and it was great to see nine Elite women on the start line for the mass start races on Saturday night,” noted event organizer Bob Schelstreate from London.
During the 2-day event there were many outstanding performances including Connor Byway (Ottawa Bicycle Club) and Will Simonds (Invita-FCV) who each won five gold medals in the five events that comprised the Championships. Other top performers included, Bailin Xie (Ottawa Bicycle Club), Lorne Falkenstein (Cycles London) with four gold medals each.
Congratuations to all the medal winners. The FCV would like to thank all the volunteers who worked throughout the weekend to make this event one of the best run races of the year.
