2009 Road Nationals – Elite Men\’s ITT Full Results – Tuft Defends Title

by pedalmag.com

June 26, 2009 (Beauce, QC) – As expected Svein Tuft (BC) Garmin-Slipstream powered to another victory defending his ITT (40km) title at the 2009 Road Nationals in Beauce over Christian Meier (NB) Garmin-Slipstream in second and Zach Bell (YK) Kelly Benefit Strategies. Ryan Roth (ON) Planet Energy was fourth and had to dodge a car on the course as he left Beauce. Unlike the women the weather was not a factor – no rain, but hot and humid.

“Ryan had a great ride and did his best despite the problem with the car on the course. He had to brake to avoid hitting it and it on a turn so even more difficult,” said Steve Bauer Planet Energy’s Team Director. “Nobody can touch Svein Tuft these days in the ITT. We’re feeling good as team and looking forward to the RR on Sunday.”

Second-placed Meier said he felt good today. “It was like the good old days when I felt like a strong time trialer,” he added. Check out Kevin Field’s comments on Twitter here.
