2009 Ontario Track Championships – Jul. 31-Aug. 1

June 19, 2009 (London, ON) – The Forest City Velodrome in London, Ontario will host the 2009 Ontario Track Championships, July 31-August 1 with competitions beginning on the Friday afternoon at 4:00 pm. This will be the fifth year that the FCV will host the event. The number of track riders and racers has grown tenfold in five short years. The 138m indoor velodrome is operated by volunteers and has many programs from youth programming on Saturdays to introductory track riding sessions throughout the winter months.

Register for the Ontario Track Championships at www.OntarioCycling.org. The technical guide is available in the Race Calendar section of the FCV website. The Championships will consist of a five-event Omnium for Cadet, Junior men, Junior women, Elite men, Elite women and Masters.

Omnium Events:
– Flying 138m
– Points Race
– Scratch Race
– 500m/Kilo
– Pursuit Time Trials.

In addition to the Omnium, the Ontario Sprint Championships will be held over the two days, starting on Friday July 31. The 2009 Sprint Championships will be ability-based depending on Flying lap times during the Omnium event. There will be three divisions for the sprinters: Elite, “B” & “C”. The organizer found the competition was very even in all of the sprint divisions in 2008. The same format will continue in 2009. The Ontario Championships are open to out of Province riders, Medals will be awarded to Ontario riders only.
