2009 CX Worlds Preview and Photos

January 31, 2009 (Hoogerheide, Netherlands) – The 2009 Cyclocross World Championships begin on Saturday in Hoogerheide, Netherlands as Lars Boom (Ned) and Hanka Kupfernagel (Ger) try to defend their titles against a tough field including Sven Nys (Bel), Bart Wellens (Bel), Marianne Vos (Ned) and many others chasing the rainbow jerseys.

Team Canada includes Elite women Wendy Simms (BC), Natasha Elliott (ON), Pepper Harlton (AB); Elite men Derrick St. John (ON), Aaron Schooler (AB); Espoirs men Brian Robinson (AB), Andrew Thomas (SK) and Kyle Fry (ON).

Action begins on Saturday with the Junior men racing at 11:30 am (5:30 am EST) followed by the Espoir men on the start line at 2:30 pm (8:30 am EST). The CX Worlds continues on Sunday with the Elite women and Elite men.
