2007 National Track Championships – Dieppe is Ready

August 31, 2007 (Dieppe, NB) — For the second year in a row, the Caisse populaire Dieppe Vélodrome will host the best track cyclists in the nation during the Tim Hortons National Track Championships. The event, presented by Radio-Moncton, will take place from September 6 to 9.

Just like last year, the organizers, the Mike’s Bike Shop Cycling Club and the National Cycling Centre — Atlantic Canada, have put every effort to make it the best event in Canada. Among top riders expected in Dieppe, we can count on recent Pan-American Games silver medalist, Cam MacKinnon and the Junior Worlds bronze medalist, Monique Sullivan. Lynn Bessette will also be present at this event. Most of these riders will start coming in town on Monday.

On the local scene, Sacha LaBlanc and Alain Goguen, along with Dustin MacBurnie, Garrett MacLeod, Ryan Belliveau and Jamie Lamb will represent the Centre.

2007 will see some changes to the schedule, namely with the addition of the omnium on Sunday; a new world championship event. In order to fill in the gaps on the schedule (and to offer proper recovery to the elite riders), master and junior category riders will race into some challenge categories. All the information for this event, along with the rest, can be found on the event’s web site at www.AtlanticCyclingCentre.com/Track2007.

Official opening of the Championships will take place on Thursday at 1 pm. Events will take place every day from 10 am to approximately 4 or 5 pm. Finals of various events will take place every day. Consult the exact schedule on our web site for all details.
