2006 CCA/UCI Mountain Bike Calendar and MTB Ranking System

March 30, 2006 – 19 events have been registered with the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) in 2006: 10 Olympic Cross-Country (XCO), 7 Individual Downhill (DHI), 1 Cross-Country marathon (XCM) and one 4 cross (4X).

5 cross-country events and 4 downhill events will form the 2006 Canada Cup. All events have been registered with the UCI. $26,464 CDN in prize money will be up for grabs this year.

-Bromont, QC: May 21 / UCI 1
-Mont Tremblant, QC: May 26 / UCI 1
-Hardwood Hills, ON: June 4 / UCI 2
-Whistler, BC: July 22 / UCI 1
-Mount Washington, BC: July 29 / UCI 2

Canada Cup DHI
-Bromont, QC: May 22 / UCI 2
-Mont Tremblant, QC: May 27 / UCI 2
-Mont-Sainte-Anne, QC: June 11 / UCI 2 Men – UCI 3 Women
-Mount Washington, BC: July 30 / UCI 2

The XCO National Championship will be held in Sun Peaks, BC on July 15-16 while the DHI National Championship will be held in Whistler, BC on July 21-22.

2006 MTB National Ranking Events

The CCA is introducing a new National Ranking system in 2006. 58 mountain bike events will count towards the 2006 MTB National Ranking. The ranking will be maintained in Olympic cross-country (XCO), Marathon cross-country (XCM), Downhill (DHI) and Four Cross (4X).

30 XCO, 8 XCM, 15 DHI and 5 4X have been registered with the CCA in the 7 available categories.

The XCO National Ranking will include 11 Provincial Races, 10 Provincial Championships, 2 National bronze, 2 National Silver, 3 National Gold, one National Championship and 1 International.

The XCM Ranking is comprised of 5 provincial events, 2 Provincial Championships and 1 International.

The DHI National Ranking is set with 5 provincial races, 4 Provincial Championships, 1 National Bronze, 3 National Silver, 1 National Championship and 1 International.

In closing, the 4X Ranking will be built around 2 Provincial Races, 2 Provincial Championships and 1 International. The National Ranking will be maintained from April 1st to September 31st in all mountain bike disciplines.
