2006 BMX Worlds — Day 3 Update

July 30, 2006 (Sao Paulo, Brazil) — Canada’s Ilana Just (Red Deer, AB) has won the silver medal in the Challenge class girls 10+ today on Day 3 of the UCI BMX World Championships. Five Canadian athletes are competing today in the Challenge class final events in Brazil. Just qualified from motos straight to finals to win the silver for Canada.

Dillon Sweeney and Paige Zarzuian did not advance after three rounds of motos – Zarzuian crashed. Erick Nicol (boys 14+) advanced to the semi finals. Cody Negenmann (boys 13+) made it from the motos to quarter finals but was eliminated there.

Layne Nyhaug, who suffered from a concussion and was sent to the hospital after her crash yesterday, was released from hospital last night. She will not travel home today as planned and will travel home with her mother tomorrow instead.
