2005 MTB Worlds – Junior Women\’s XC

September 1, 2005 – September 1, 2005 — The Czech Republic’s Tereza Hurikova (CZE) captured the junior women’s World Championship title in Livigno, Italy today, powering though one short lap and one long lap in 1:13:14.

The 18-year-old averaged over 14 kilometres per hour on the strenuous course where altitude could make or break a racer.

Germany’s Hanna Klein (GER) finished second, 1:03 back from the charging Hurikova. Tanja Zakelj (SLO) of Slovenia took the bronze medal.

Emily Batty (CAN) delivered the top Canadian result with a 13th-place ride. Batty, who started in 19th position, managed to move up steadily throughout her race.

Isabelle Jacques (CAN) was 20th, Emilie Beaumont (CAN) placed 22nd, Marie-Claude Surprenant (CAN) finished 32nd, Evelyne Pichette (CAN) placed 33rd and Kaitlin Michener (CAN) was 35th.
