June 22, 2009 (Port Dalhousie, ON) – Close to 1,000 riders “mudded it up” in Niagara at yesterdays 11th annual Giant Bicyles Great Lake to Lake Classic MTB race. A unique and challenging course from Lake Erie to Lake Ontario that spans 50km of every kind of trail and road. Danny Souter (KHS) of Kitchener blazed the course in 1:47 ahead of locals Guy Vankrimpen and Nathan Chown.

On the women’s side Carmen Sweet (Sunflower Squad) also of Kitchener took the win by a mere second over Maria Bottos of Mt. Hope. Finishing in the sun on the beach to a catered meal was a perfect ending to a very difficult day for many “new” cyclists who had to endure a slippery and difficult journey from lake to lake.

Another 200 riders enjoyed the Regatta Sports Pond to Pond event from Brock University onto the same beach. Many a father and son or daughter were witnessed partaking in this annual Father’s Day tradition.
