1,000 Beds Still Available for 2007 MTB Worlds Fans

August 23, 2007 – Organisers of the UCI Mountain Bike & Trials World Championships 2007 at Fort William in the Scottish Highlands — Powered by Nissan Sports Adventure — want as many mountain bike fans and outdoor enthusiasts as possible to experience the biggest, the most important and the best mountain bike event in the world by highlighting the fact that there is still more than 1,000 bedspaces available in the local area.

To make it as easy as possible for enthusiasts to make the trip to The Worlds, The Lochaber Centre for Tourism Excellence has put together a directory of accommodation availability during the event – September 3-9, 2007. There are over 225 B&B’s and guesthouses with availability, including over 90 in Fort William itself, most of which are within a one-hour drive of The Nevis Range and Forestry Commission Scotland’s Leanachan Forest, the host venue.

The directory will be updated regularly and covers all available B&B and guesthouse accommodation in Fort William & Glen Nevis, Glen Spean and the Great Glen, Road to the Isles, Ardnamurchan and Glencoe and Loch Leven.

Eleanor Brown, Special Projects Manager at The Lochaber Centre for Tourism Excellence, said: ‘We have been overwhelmed at the generosity of the people of Lochaber who have opened their homes to visitors for the Mountain Bikes World Championships.

Not only have recognised accommodation providers pulled out all the stops but local people who have a spare room have come forward to offer accommodation to ensure that mountain bike fans and outdoor enthusiasts enjoy the very best experience Lochaber has to offer. The register is still growing with up to a dozen phone calls each day offering accommodation locally.

At present we have about 225 properties on the register which is the equivalent of 1000 bedspaces’
