$1 Million Up For Grabs At Dew Action Finale

October 13, 2005 – Freestyle motocross and BMX Vert highlight NBC Sports’ live, high definition coverage of the PlayStation Pro from the TD Waterhouse Centre in Orlando, Fla., the fifth and final stop in the inaugural season of the Dew Action Sports Tour. The Dew Cup and a $1 Million prize purse, the largest in action sports history, is on the line as the world’s best action sports athletes compete for their sports’ first-ever regular season crown. NBC Sports’ coverage of Freestyle Motocross airs Saturday at 2 p.m. ET and BMX Vert airs Sunday at 4 p.m. ET. USA Network will air late-night coverage of the Skateboard Vert competition Friday and BMX Park on Saturday, midnight-1 a.m. ET/PT both nights.

Co-hosts Pat Parnell and Kenan Harkin will anchor the coverage for NBC and USA from the TD Waterhouse Centre, joined by reporter Robbie Floyd.

Winners in the six combined disciplines of skateboarding, BMX, and freestyle motocross will each be awarded with the first-ever Dew Cup, $75,000 in bonus money and a 2006 Toyota Tacoma truck at the PlayStation Pro. Bucky Lasek (Skateboard Vert), Jamie Bestwick (BMX Vert), Ryan Guettler (BMX Dirt and Park), and Jeremy “Twitch” Stenberg (Freestyle Motocross) all currently lead the points standings in their respective disciplines. Ryan Sheckler has clinched the title in Skateboard Park.

NBC’s coverage features close competitions in Freestyle Motocross and BMX Vert, where a win by any of the top four competitiors in both disciplines will assure the series title.

Stenberg of Winchester, Calif., leads second-place “Cowboy” Kenny
Bartram of Stillwater, Okla. by only 13 points. Bartram, who took
top honors at the second and third stops of the Tour, fell to second
place in the standings at the Toyota Challenge last month in San
Jose, Calif., after injuring himself on his first run. Mike Mason
(-86 points) has continually improved his ranking with each Tour
stop, moving into third last month in San Jose. The tight
competition in FMX has resulted in three different points leaders in
four events, and assures strong competition at the PlayStation Pro,
where the winner in Orlando will take home the series title.

Sunday’s coverage features the top athletes of BMX Vert battling for
first place in the Tour’s tightest points race. Kevin Robinson, 34,
of East Providence, R.I., trails Bestwick, 34, of Nottingham,
England, by only five points. Chad Kagy (-52 points) and BMX icon
Dave Mirra (-77 points) follow closely behind Bestwick in third and
fourth place, respectively. The BMX Vert series title will belong to
the first place finisher in Orlando, and any of the top five points
leaders are a threat to clinch the season-ending crown.

Each tour stop features significant lifestyle elements such as indoor
and outdoor entertainment festivals covering more than one million
square feet, as well as live music. The music lineup in Orlando
features headlining band Hoobastank and special guests The
All-American Rejects.
